Duke Update September 11, 2022
Picture Day: Picture day for students in grades 9th thru 11th will be on Monday, October 24th and Tuesday, October 25th from 7:45 am - 2:15 pm in the GHS auditorium. Senior make-up/retake pictures will be on Thursday, November 3rd in the GHS auditorium from 9:00 am - 2:15 pm.
Activity Bus: Starting on Monday September 12th the activity buses will be running. Due to the
construction at the old bowling alley on John Clayton Memorial Highway, that stop on the north bound route will be changed to the Gloucester Library.
Attention Parents of Seniors: The School Counseling Department will start meeting with seniors to review graduation progress and starting helping firm up post-secondary plans starting Monday September 12th. If you wold like to be part of the meeting please email your child’s school counselor this coming week. Emails and school counselor assignments are on the GHS Website under the School Counseling tab.
Attention Parents of Dual Enrollment Students: Payment for dual enrollment is now being accepted for the upcoming school year. All fall semester payments must be submitted to Ms. Early, the GHS Bookkeeper by Friday, September 16, at 3:00 p.m.
Please be advised that students may enter the building at 7:20 am. The tardy bell will ring at 7:40 am and students are released at the end of the day at 2:40 pm.
Parking Passes: Parking passes for the 2022-2023 school year are on sale now and can be purchased in the Gloucester High School main office. The cost for a parking pass is $52 dollars, via online thru School cash online site, cash, check, or money order made out to Gloucester High School. Please go to the Gloucester High School website to print out and complete the 2022-2023 Student parking pass application prior to coming into the main office to purchase your parking pass. If you purchase your pass using the School cash online site, make sure to bring in proof of the receipt, along with the completed 2022-2023 Student parking pass application. Students will be able to choose a numbered parking space on a first-come, first-serve basis until all parking spots are sold for the upcoming school year
HOSA: For those students interested in HOSA, the first meeting will be on Thursday, September 22 after dismissal in room C151.
W.E.B DuBois Honor Society: The first meeting of the W.E.B. DuBois Honor Society will be on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 3PM in D21.

Please be advised that under School Board policy, students may possess personal communication devices, but they must be turned off, put away, and may not be used during the school day. This policy applies to cell phones, headphones, earbuds, smart watches, and all other personal communication devices. Also, note that hats and hoods are not to be worn in the building during school hours.
Food Service: For the 2022-2023 school year, student meal prices are as follows:
- Breakfast: $1.90 Reduced price: $0.30
- Lunch: $2.80 Reduced price: $0.40
Students will need to submit an application for a free or reduced price meal. Applications are available at this link: https://5il.co/1d6pd and in the GHS main office, and may be submitted online though the GCPS website or in-person at GHS. An important reminder to students and families to please use extreme caution when driving in the student parking lot. This space is used by our band and other teams for practices. Please do not speed, drive through or park in these designated areas.
Clinic: This is a reminder that the State of Virginia requires rising seniors to receive the Meningococcal Vaccine prior to the first day of school. If your child has not received at least one immunization prior to the first day of school, they are ineligible to attend. Please submit any immunization records to the clinic as soon as possible.
