April is Autism Acceptance Month!
In the United States, April is recognized as Autism Acceptance Month. The goal of Autism Acceptance is to become more inclusive of the Autistic community and to promote education about the unique differences of people with Autism as well as understand and respect those differences. Acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Autism improves opportunities for all students to increase knowledge and reduce stigmas regarding Autism, develop respectful peer relationships, build postsecondary and career-readiness skills, and become engaged members of their community.
Visit the Virginia Commonwealth University - Autism Center for Education website for webinars, videos, and fact sheets to learn more about individuals with Autism and ways to continue to build acceptance and inclusion in our schools.
