School Counseling

The mission of the School Counseling Program of Gloucester County Public Schools is to empower all students to become productive and contributing members of society. In partnership with all stakeholders, School Counselors provide a developmental program aligned with the Virginia Department of Education Standards for School Counseling Programs that addresses the academic, personal, social, and career development of all students.

The Professional School Counselors of Gloucester County Public Schools Believe:

  • All students can achieve academic success when provided with the right combination of challenge and support.

  • All students' racial, national origin, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, cultural, and identity differences are appreciated and valued in the planning and implementation of the School Counseling Program.

  • All students have the right to participate in the School Counseling Program and to receive services from Professional School Counselors.

The Professional School Counselors of Gloucester County Public Schools will:

  • Advocate for all students.

  • Collaborate and consult with students, administration, faculty, staff, families and the community to better serve all students.

  • Use data to create a School Counseling Program to address the school's individual needs.
